ABOUT

Personal Story

I am a Spanglish-speaking, first-generation college student, Latina scholar-practitioner of higher education. Originally from Tijuana, Mexico, I now reside in Los Angeles. Growing up as a fronteriza in the Tijuana-San Diego border shaped my worldviews on navigating multiple physical and symbolic borders, or fronteras. Over the years I came to embrace my identity as a Spanglish-speaking individual with rich experiences and cultures growing up in the U.S. and Mexico. I navigate institutions and spaces where I aim to connect my comunidad to opportunities that advance our economic, social, and holistic well-being. I deeply connect with Gloria Anzaldúa’s consciousness of being “ni de aquí, ni de allá.”

In my free time, I center myself through dance and other forms of physical expression. I come from a family of dancers (check out my sister’s CV Dance Co. program in San Diego!) and movement is a way for me to connect with myself and other dance enthusiasts!
